The difference between a 5- and 6-day trip is the Yala National Park safari tour included on the 6th day, but we are flexible in the structure of the program and are happy to adapt to the needs of our guests.

Passengers are always welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport, located near Colombo, to provide technical assistance in currency exchange, phone card purchases, and other issues.

DAY 1:
COLOMBO

Arrival in Colombo in the morning. Two hours sightseeing in Colombo, then arrival at the accommodation, which is located in the center of Colombo, yet close to the ocean coast. Rest, individual wandering in the mysterious corners of the city. Dinner and overnight in Colombo.

DAY 2:
COLOMBO – PINNAWELA – DAMBULLA – POLONNARUWA

The Sri Lanka tour begins. After an early breakfast, we leave for the Millennium Elephant Foundation. At the Foundation, the animals can be fed, bathed and petted, this program is the highlight of the day. Although the goal of the program is to spend time with the elephants, get to know the foundation and the life of the elephants, it is also possible to pet the elephants for a few minutes. We continue to Dambulla, to the World Heritage Cave Temples, which is Sri Lanka’s largest and best explored cave temple, the Rangiri Dambulla Viharaya. The paintings and sculptures all depict the life of Lord Buddha. A total of 153 statues of Buddha, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of Hindu gods can be seen in the caves, which can be reached by a short flight of stairs.

Afterwards, we will take a walk in Polonnaruwa , the once flourishing capital in the 11th-13th centuries, where we can admire Parakramabahu’s palace, the Siva temple, the early Fog temples, and the Gal Vihara sculpture complex. Then we go to the accommodation. Dinner.

DAY 3:
DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA – MATALE – KANDY

After breakfast, we climb the Lion’s Rock in Sigiriya, which is a UNESCO heritage site. We spend some time in the royal palace, admiring the beautiful wall paintings, and last but not least, the majestic view in front of us.

Then we continue our journey to Kandy. On the way, we stop at the Matale spice gardens, where we get to know the basics of traditional Ayurveda and treat our guests to a refreshing, free massage. Then we continue our journey to the last royal capital, Kandy, where we will take part in a cultural show during which we can admire the traditional dances, music and folk costumes of Sri Lanka. Then we walk over to the famous Temple of the Tooth , which is rightly called the Vatican of Buddhists. The imposing building of the Temple of the Tooth, which is also part of the UNESCO heritage, impresses everyone, it was the seat of the last king of Sri Lanka. Dinner and overnight in Kandy.

DAY 4:
KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA (LITTLE ENGLAND) – ELLA

After breakfast , we go to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden , where we can admire the flora and fauna of Sri Lanka. More than 4,000 types of plants can be found here, including herbs, orchids, herbs and palm trees. Here you can see, the famous row of cannonball trees planted by the English King George V in 1901. It got its name from its cannonball-shaped fruits. After that, we get to know one of Sri Lanka’s greatest prides, the blue sapphire, and learn that gem mining is not such an easy profession.

 

Right after that we continue our journey to Nuwara Eliya. On the way, we will visit a tea factory and gain an insight into the process of tea cultivation and processing. Nuwara Eliya, the town known as ‘Little England’, with its colonial-style houses and evergreen grass, really reminds us of the island country. Afterwards we continue to Ella, where we can take photos of beautiful waterfalls on the way. City tour in Ella by foot, walk in the area. Dinner and overnight in Ella.

DAY 5:
ELLA – UNAWATUNA

Early in the morning, before sunrise, we walk up to the small Adam’s Peak, from where we have a wonderful view of the green, lush countryside bathed in the rays of the rising sun. Then we continue to the ocean. On the way, we admire the Ravana waterfall and visit the Buddhist temple of Buduruwagala. Afternoon arrival at the ocean shore, where the Sri Lanka tour ends. There are several accommodations to choose from on the oceanfront, and accommodation reservations are flexible. Relaxation by the ocean can be extended indefinitely, additional optional programs can be ordered on site.
